다 참다

endure and endure, until you snap

참다 means to hold something in — pain, anger, an urge to speak. Repeated as 참다 참다 (or 참다 참다가), it sets up the moment the holding-in finally fails, and in these subtitle lines the outburst always follows: [참다 참다 뱉어버린 한마디], [참다 참다 울부짖는 성민], [5차 클로징 시도 참다 참다 석삼이 형 폭발]. It can be stretched to three repetitions for extra weight (진짜 참다 참다 참다). A single 참다 just means putting up with something; the doubling is what tells you the breaking point is coming.
