die while doing something
-다가 marks something happening partway through an activity, so this is dying while doing it: 알을 낳다가 죽는 경우가 많다고 합니다 (many die while laying eggs), 어떤 몹을 잡다가 죽었어요 (I died fighting a mob, in a game). Most of these lines are not literal, though — 죽는 줄 알았어 is the everyday exaggeration 'I thought I was going to die', used here about recording and about frying an egg in one's underwear.
Register: casual; usually hyperbole
