go do it and come back

A round trip: you break off from here, do something, and return. 갔다가 오다 "go and come back", 있다가 오다 "stay a while and come back", 들어갔다가 오다 "pop in and come back out". 걸어갔다가 오면 한 40분 — "walking there and back is about forty minutes" — counts both directions together. The mirror image is -다가 가다, where you do something and then carry on away instead.
