다 죽다

die in the middle of doing something

-다(가) means breaking off partway through an action, so with 죽다 it is dying while doing it: 담배 피우다 죽은 사람이 많냐 'have many people died smoking?', 여기서 싸우다 죽으려 그랬는데 'he meant to die fighting here'. The most frequent shape in these lines is the half-joking warning 이러다 죽는 거 아니야? / 그만 먹어 그러다 죽어! — 'keep this up and you'll kill yourself'.
