go down and up repeatedly

The usual shape here is a pair of verbs in -았/었다 form running in alternation: 내려갔다 올라갔다 'down then up', 왔다 갔다 'back and forth', 앞으로 갔다 뒤로 갔다 'forward then back'. It describes repeated movement rather than a single trip, and applies to a share price as readily as to a vehicle on a slope. 올라가다 on its own is simply to go up.
