던가 하다

X던가 하다 floats a rough option rather than a precise one: lower the tax rate or something, wrap it in rice and seaweed or whatever. Paired up, as in 내리던가 타던가 해야지, it becomes 'either get off or get on, one or the other' — impatient. It is offhand spoken usage; the tidier written equivalent is -거나.
