듯 하다

"-듯" means "as if, in the manner of", and with 하다 it says someone behaves that way: he practically worshipped him, it works the way editing a document works, shall the butlers wait on you like servers. It is the backbone of the proverbs quoted here — 변덕이 죽 끓듯 하다, as changeable as boiling porridge, which appears twice, and the dog staring at the roof after the chicken got away. Watch out for one line that only looks like this: 등이 뜨듯하네 is 뜨듯하다, a single word meaning "warm", unrelated to -듯.
