어 읽다

read it out; read along

An "-아/어" form in front of 읽다 "read", supplying the manner. Two set phrases carry most of these lines: 소리 내 읽다, "read aloud" — read it out as loudly as I did — and 따라 읽다, "read along after someone", which appears as an instruction and as a warning not to. A third shape is 에 대해 읽다, reading about a subject rather than reading a text. 읽다 covers both reading silently and reading out, so the form in front is what disambiguates.
