Home / Pattern becomes, gets, turns out that way
Attached to a descriptive word it means becomes: 따뜻해지고 기분도 좋아져요 "your body warms up and your mood lifts", 감사해진다 "I get more thankful". Attached to an action verb it takes the doer out of the picture, so the thing just happens or ends up done: 늦어졌어요 "it got delayed", 만들어진 토네이도 "the tornado that was made", 눈이 안 떠져 "my eyes won't open". That second use is how Korean expresses a lot of what English does with the passive, and it is written attached to the verb with no space.
