Also spelled eolragada, oolragada

go up doing something

The verb before -어 says how you go up: 걸어 올라가다 "walk up", 따라 올라가다 "follow it up", 끌려 올라가다 "be pulled upward". It works on maps as well as hills — 이 길로 따라 올라가면 means following a road northward. Figuratively, 거슬러 올라가다 is going back upstream in time, which one line does to reach someone's child-actor days. Its pair 내려가다 does all the same work downward.
