let someone know about something

알리다 is the causative of 알다 — make someone know — and it almost always shows up as 알려주다 or the polite 알려드리다 'tell you, let you know'. -아/어서 supplies the step or reason before it: 오늘은 정리해서 알려드려 보도록 하겠습니다 'today I'll sort it out and walk you through it', 노래 듣고 와서 알려드리죠 'I'll listen to the song and then tell you'. Note that -에 대해서 알려주다 'tell you about ___' contains 대해서, which merely ends in -어서.
