어서 걸리다

get caught, get snagged

걸리다 is one thing catching on another: being caught doing something you shouldn't (지난 번에 옷에 넣어서 걸렸지), an animal caught in a trap (자꾸 멧돼지가 와서 걸린다고), or something repeatedly snagging progress ([계속해서 걸리는 오타 브레이크]). It is also how you catch an illness — 홍역 바이러스에 의해서 걸리는 호흡기 질병. The -아서/어서 in front gives the cause: 이래서 걸리는 거야, "this is why you get caught." 걸다 is hanging something up; 걸리다 is what happens to whatever got hung or hooked.
