어서 끊다

끊다 is severing a connection: hanging up a call (아 이거 이상하구나 해서 끊고), giving up a habit or a food for good (그 치과 의사 선생님이 최악의 음식이라고 해서 끊었어요), or cutting something into pieces. It has a sense learners rarely expect — you 끊다 a ticket or an official document, meaning buy or have it issued: 지금 가서 끊어 놓는 건 어때?, 동사무소 거기 가서 끊어야겠어요?. The -아서/어서 gives the reason or the step before.
