빠지다 is coming out of something you were in, and the clause in front gives the reason or the route. With people it is dropping out of a gathering: leaving after the first round of drinks, sitting this one out on purpose, stepping aside so someone else can lead. With roads it is branching off toward somewhere, and with markets it is a price sliding after an announcement.
