Two set frames account for most of these lines: ~을 위해 싸우다 "fight for" a cause — justice, a country, one's own people — and ~에 맞서 싸우다 "fight against, stand up to". The subject matter here is noticeably weightier than everyday speech: war dead, film plots, lawyers, duty. For the ordinary sense of a couple or two friends having a row, Koreans just say 싸우다 with nothing attached.
