-(으)러 gives the purpose and 다니다 the going about, so together they describe repeatedly going places for that purpose: 런던 최고의 빵을 찾으러 다녔고 'we went around hunting for London's best pastries', 나랑 라면 먹으러 다니는 유튜브 할래? 'want to do a YouTube channel where we go around eating ramyeon?'. Against -(으)러 가다, which is one trip, -러 다니다 makes it a habit or a tour.
