spend time; send in some way

보내다 means both 'spend (time)' and 'send (something)', and this pattern serves both. Holiday small talk uses the first: 혹시 추석 어떻게 보내셨는지 여쭤봐도 괜찮을까요? 'may I ask how you spent Chuseok?' The second is about the manner of sending — 너무 섬세하게 보내주는 거예요 'he sends me everything in such detail.' The object tells you which: a holiday or a weekend is spent, a photo or a message is sent.
