run toward something at some pace

달려가다 is running toward something, and the -게 adverb sets the pace: 빠르게, 숨차게 'breathlessly', 바쁘게 'in a rush', or a pointing 이렇게 and 저렇게. Most lines are figurative, about people or countries racing ahead through life or the economy — 저 나라가 저렇게 달려가니까 임금 격차가 커져. Its close neighbour 어서 달려가다 tends to name what is being run at instead, with 향해서 or 위해서.
