게 얼다

freeze — literally, or with nerves

An adverb in "-게" plus 얼다 "freeze". The physical sense is here — a frozen persimmon properly soft-frozen inside, ice frozen thick, being so cold you could freeze to death. Just as common is freezing up with nerves: he completely froze like this, they keep freezing up even when you talk to them, your body seizes up. 얼다 is the freezing happening to something; freezing it deliberately is 얼리다. Note that one of the lines printed here does not actually contain the word.
