임하다 is how you face something that matters, so it takes an adverb about attitude: taking it seriously, going in with grim resolve, throwing yourself into it desperately, promising to enjoy it and not get hurt, being told to cooperate in earnest with an investigation. Seriously is the adverb in half of these lines. It is a weighty verb, so it fits final challenges, important projects and formal undertakings rather than everyday chores.
