게 커지다

grow big; swell; widen

커지다 is 크다 'big' plus -어지다 'become', so the growing happens by itself and the verb never takes an object — a child grows, beans swell, a deficit widens. -게 supplies the degree, and here it is usually a large one: 엄청나게 커졌다 'grew enormously' (three lines), 급격하게 커지는 'widening sharply', 드라마틱하게 커지는 'growing dramatically'. If someone is doing the enlarging, the verb is 키우다 instead.
