낳다 is giving birth, and the adverb attaches to how the child turned out, which is a habit English does not share: mum gave birth to me good-looking, that is just how our parents made us, it was a difficult birth. Other lines use it plainly for how many are born, or for policies that make people have fewer children. Do not confuse 낳다 with 낫다, meaning better or recovered; the two are mixed up constantly, including by Korean speakers.
