slice it thin, thick, or fine

썰다 is slicing with a knife on a board — narrower than the general 자르다 "cut". Every line here is food, and the adverb is nearly always thickness or size: 얇게 썰다 "slice thin" in three lines, 잘게 썰다 "chop fine", 큼직큼직하게 썰다 "cut into big chunks", 두툼하게 썰다 "cut it thick". Those four adverbs cover most of what a Korean recipe will ask you to do.
