게 따라오다

follow along; come with it

따라오다 is coming along behind — a person, a rival catching up (일본이 이렇게 따라오니까), or a system that has to match another (동일하게 따라올 수밖에 없는). Its most useful sense here is the thing that arrives automatically with something else: 자연스럽게 따라오는 현타 'the reality check that naturally follows', 자연스럽게 따라오는 스팟이 있거든요. The -게 word says in what manner the following happens.
