고 보다

'…and then I realized'

고 보다 does something and then notices what was true all along. Four of these lines are its two set phrases: 알고 보니 'as it turns out' — 알고 보니 테라에서 파견되신 분 아니에요? 'turns out he was sent from Terra?' — and 그러고 보니 'come to think of it'. The pattern is also literal, as in 카메라 켜놓고 보니까 'now that I look with the camera on'. The realization always comes second, after the act of looking.
