치우다 is clearing up, putting away and getting things out of the way, and the 고 clause is what came before the tidying. Most of these lines are about chores: setting the table and clearing it, cooking and cleaning, eating and then cleaning up, all of it work. One line uses the get-it-over-with flavour instead, eating the worst-tasting thing first just to be rid of it.
