고 돌다

round and round, then finally arriving

돌고 돌다 is going round in circles, and five of these lines use it for reaching somewhere the long way about: 돌고 돌아 드디어 도착한 익산 "after all those detours, Iksan at last". The feeling is that the wandering is finally over, and as a caption over an arrival shot it is close to a cliché. 돌다 on its own is simply to turn or spin — one line uses it of a machine turning by itself.
