고 도망치다

do something and then bolt

"-고" chains an action to 도망치다, "flee, bolt". Some lines are simple fright or escape: they get startled and run, I ran off during lunch, I pressed the fire alarm in high school and ran. Others are absconding with money, which is the commonest serious use — took the investment and ran off with 25 billion won, the guy who took my money and disappeared. 도망치다 is more forceful than 도망가다; it implies getting away from something.
