…, so I didn't know

-고 joins the clause in front to 모르다 'not know'. In most of these lines the first clause is the reason: 처음이어가지고 몰랐습니다 'it was my first time, so I didn't know', 좀 떨어져 있어가지고 몰랐었어요 'we were apart, so I had no idea'. The -가지고 you keep seeing is spoken Korean's way of saying 'and so'. A couple of lines simply chain two states instead: 조금 어렵고 모르겠죠 'a bit difficult and unfamiliar, right?'.
