내리다 here is getting out of a car, bus or train, and the -고 verb says what you did as you got out. Three lines use it for leaving something behind: 지갑을 두고 내리다 "get out and leave your wallet in the taxi", 놓고 내리다. As a pair, 타고 내리다 means getting in and out — 택시에 타고 내릴 때 문을 닫잖아요. Do not confuse it with 내려다보다 "look down at", which one line uses.
