남기다 is leaving something behind on purpose. Online it means posting a comment or a message, and creators use it constantly: 홈페이지에 선물 받으실 주소 잊지 말고 남겨주세요, 궁금한 거 망설이지 말고 남겨주시면 감사하겠습니다, 라고 남겨주셨고요. At the table it means not finishing your food: 항상 다 못 먹고 남겨가지고, 밥을 먹고 남기는 한이 있어도. 남다 is something being left over by itself; 남기다 is you leaving it.
