고 나오다

Joins two events: you finish the first action and then emerge — from a room, a building, an exam. 휴대폰을 집에 두고 나오면 어때요? is 'how about leaving your phone at home when you go out.' It also covers coming out still carrying whatever you set up inside: 헤어질 준비를 하고 나온 사람 is someone who came out already prepared to break up. Its mirror is 고 나가다, which is heading out away from where you are rather than emerging.
