고 풀다

stop and solve it; undo it

풀다 covers untying, unlocking, letting loose, and solving — and the -고 gives the step before. In these lines it is mostly about problems: 멈추고 보고 풀거든요 "I stop, look, and solve it," 그걸 보고 풀면 되는데. Other senses show up too: 열쇠를 넣고 풀었습니다 "put the key in and unlocked it," and 풀어주다 for releasing an animal (침입종들 들여오지도 말고 풀어주지도 말고). The common thread is taking something closed or knotted and opening it up.
