생기다 has two unrelated jobs and these lines split evenly. One is something coming into existence after an event, with "-고" marking what came first: I got it from doing radio, one habit I picked up after starting the podcast, the gap that opened up before the last shoot. The other is 생기다 meaning "look, be shaped", almost always as 생긴 것 "the appearance" — the taste is different and so is the look, they'd look similar too. The -고 in that second group is just "and".
