don't do it — a negative command

The negative command: a verb plus "-지" plus 말다, "don't". Half the lines here are the drawn-out shouted spoken form 하지 마아 — "don't!", "don't put me in that league", "don't lie!" The rest quote a command with -라고: Elon Musk said don't go to med school, they told me not to go anywhere. One line uses the Gyeongsang polite form 하지 마이소. Compare plain negation 안 하다 "doesn't do it" — 지 말다 only ever tells someone not to.

Register: casual spoken, often shouted
