보이다 is 'be visible, come into view' — something your eyes do to you, unlike 보다 'look at'. With a conditional in front it tells you what to do to spot something: 치즈 옆에 좀 파보면 보일 거예요 'dig around next to the cheese and you'll see it', 쇼핑몰 가면 보이고 'you see them when you go to a mall', 멀리서 보면 보일 때가 있어요 'sometimes you only see it from a distance'.
