what if…? nothing to be done

Two habits share this shape, and three lines here take each. 면 어쩌죠 / 면 어쩌나 is the anxious "what if": 내 작업이 지연되면 어쩌죠? "what if it holds up my work?", 오염되면 어쩌나 "what if it gets stained?". 면 어쩔 수 없다 is the resigned opposite — 한 번 뛰면 어쩔 수 없어요, "once you've jumped there's nothing to be done about it". The first frets about the future; the second gives up on it.
