그러다 is a stand-in verb meaning 'do that', pointing back at whatever was just described so nobody has to repeat it. With -면 you get 'if you want to, you may', 'if you're busy, that can happen', 'a human being would do that too'. English has to say 'do that' or 'be like that'; Korean gets by with this one word.
