I wonder if…

-나 turns the clause into an indirect question and 모르다 says you don't have the answer: 여기 있나 모르겠다 'I wonder whether they have them here', 이거 잘하고 있나 모르겠어요 'I'm not sure I'm doing this well'. With a question word it becomes real puzzlement: 옛날엔 어떻게 찍었나 모르겠어요 'I can't imagine how they filmed this back then'. It is a soft, thinking-aloud way to hedge rather than a real admission of ignorance.
