-는데 sets up what you believed, and what follows corrects it. Five of these lines run into the set phrase 알고 보니(까) 'as it turned out': 되게 친구라고 생각했는데 알고 보니까 나만 친구였던 거 'I thought we were friends, but it turned out I was the only one who did'. One line instead contrasts not knowing with knowing: 몰랐으면 모르겠는데 알았는데 안 줄 거냐고 'if you hadn't known, fine — but you know now, so are you really not giving it?'.
