-는구나 is the ending for something dawning on you, and 하다 quotes that inner reaction. 저렇게 꽂아야 되는구나 하는 생각이 드네 'it struck me that that's how you're supposed to skewer them'; 노력만 하면 되는구나 하는 'the thought that maybe I just need to try'.
