는지 싶다

I wonder whether

Wraps an open question — whether, why, which — and marks it as a passing thought rather than a question you expect answered: 이 대사를 들으셨는지 싶어요, 'I wonder if you caught that line'. 거기까지 왜 가야 되는지 싶기도 하고 is 'part of me wonders why it has to go that far'. All four lines here are polite. Its neighbour -는가 싶다 does the same softening to a statement instead of a question.
