may I ask what/which...?

Wraps an embedded question — what, who, why, which — and hands it over with 여쭈다, the humble verb for asking someone above you. Every line here ends in a permission form: 여쭤봐도 됩니까, 여쭤봐도 될까요, 여쭤봐도 되나요. This is the polite frame for putting a question to a stranger or a guest; among friends the same thing is 뭔지 물어봐도 돼?.
