Every line here reports a question that somebody asked, with 그러다 standing in for saying it: he asked whether I got teased a lot, they might ask why the younger one is patting his head, he asked how on earth I knew that, she asks what I am up to all the time. The plain alternatives are the same ending with the verb for doing or for asking; using 그러다 is the most conversational of the three.
