Used for what a screen, dictionary, sign or game card turned out to say: 오래된 찻집이라고 나오는데요 "it comes up as an old tea house", 뭐라고 나왔어요? "what did yours say?". When the quoted part is an instruction it becomes what an app or notice tells you to do — 낭비하지 말라고 나오잖아요 "it tells you not to waste time on it". 나오다 is the coming-up part; for text that is simply printed there, people say 라고 되어 있다.
