The purpose comes first and 가다 'go' follows: 나는 일하러 갈 거야 'I'm going to work', 다음 놀이기구 타러 가야할 것 같아 'I think it's time to go ride the next one.' It is the everyday way to say what you are heading out for. Note that -러 only works with going and coming; for a purpose without travel you need -려고.
