Let's — the formal 'let's'

Proposes doing something together in the formal speech level: let's think of the food chain, let's go with 'Meow Meow Cat', straight ahead, let's go, let's go and eat, I'm hungry. It sounds brisk and a little official, which is why hosts and leaders use it to move a group along. One trap: despite being formal, it is not respectful enough to use on someone clearly senior to you — with them, phrase the suggestion as a question instead.

Register: formal but not deferential
