다던데

'I heard that…?' opening a topic

-다던데 reports something the speaker was told and puts it to the other person, usually to get them talking: 광고 촬영 당시 에피소드가 있다던데? 'I heard there was a story from that commercial shoot?' Almost every line here stops right on it with a question mark, which is how hosts and interviewers raise a subject without asserting it. Because the source is hearsay, the speaker stays off the hook if it turns out to be wrong.
