'They say / apparently'

-대 reports what someone else said, without the speaker vouching for it: 제작진이 먹고 싶대 'the crew say they want some.' It very often feeds into a following 하다 — 우리가 장마가 끝났대 하는 거는 'when we say the rainy season is over.' Do not confuse it with -데, which reports what the speaker personally witnessed; -대 is always secondhand.
