Sets up a hypothetical: 코코넛이 없었다면 'if there had been no coconut', 빨리 말할 수 없다면 'if you can't say it quickly'. By far the most frequent form on screen is 그렇다면, which picks up whatever was just said and runs with it — 'in that case', 'then'. Compared with plain 면, which covers ordinary 'when/if' conditions, 다면 leans toward the imagined or the unlikely, and 었다면 covers things that didn't actually happen.
